First, official meme yoink!

How many times has someone on your friends list posted about something and you were really confused, but you didn't want to ask because you knew you *should* know? How many times have you felt guilty asking an LJ friend a question that should be obvious? Well, here's your chance. If you've missed a few things, missed an entry and are confused, ask me anything. Even something extremely basic, like where I live! - Though I reserve the right not to answer anything that may give stalkers information they need not have or my home address. I'm not allowed to get even slightly irritated at any of the questions - we've all missed things before.

And now, on to life as I know it:

TODAY I SIGNED THE NEW LEASE! Yaaay. We got two years at $1300, and WHAT a steal! We just need to get the keys from the super and we can get our move on. Need to give the realtors another $750 on Monday, but for now, I'm just gonna be happy.

Also got that mail from the post office, and lo it was indeed the civil court papers. I called them and can go in on Monday before work to register my receiving-ness thereof, and get a date set for the first meeting with the judge. I want to give my sincere thanks to everyone who's given me advice, encouragement and support, as approaching this with calm and confidence is key.

i hug you

I hug you till your insides burst. Lots of luck with this.
Btw, since--at your request-- it is time to catch up on things, your previous links to your new place didn't work, do you have a website? and where in the city is it? still on Manhattan?

Noooo my organs!

Yes, sorry, the html didn't copy properly from Word (thanks, Bill.) but I fixed the post so it should all be good now. However, for ease, the links are these:

1) A useful map! (http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h7/tsukechick/meself/Apartmentmap.gif)
2) The courtyard, which is currently full of flowers. (http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h7/tsukechick/meself/Apartmentbuilding.jpg)
3) A typical room. (http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h7/tsukechick/meself/apartmentroom.jpg)
4) A kitchen which is smaller than our kitchen. (http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h7/tsukechick/meself/apartmentkitchen.jpg) (ours is wider and a lot longer, and all the stuff is laid out on the left instead of the right)

Yay!

How did you find your way into the Potterverse?

You know, I've actually been trying to remember when I picked up the first book, and for the life of me I just can't! (Time has never been my strong suit.) I know I was into them in college. They were my braincandy, the little indulgences and rewards to get me through tough classes. (Or boring ones, though thankfully these were few at my school.)

They first came out when I was in highschool though, so...I have a feeling that I was just in the bookstore one day, as I often am, and grabbed a book that caught my eye, as I often do, and had to buy it after reading the first chapter, as usually happens. Snape grabbed my attention from his first appearance - I have an eternal weakness for the Grumpys of the literary world - and he and her other characters were so charming that there was no quesiton that I'd be hooked.

I got into the fanverse early on, reading fic and making art, and of course it's a fun common interest to bond with friends over. Then in 2005 I got stuck in a crappy job with an awful boss and a great internet connection and the roleplaying began! I'm lucky enough to have a friend who just has a knack with getting into places and I got to see the premiere of Goblet of Fire and meet some of the actors, which was a blast, and dressing up as Boggart!Snape (complete with stuffed vulture) and scowling at the kiddies is far too fun. In real life I'm too much of a soft touch to really pull off a proper Snape, though. Not to mention the voice. And the boobs. (Small details.)

Anyway, there's the three-volume novel answer to the one sentence question!

Funny, but Snape was initially My favourite character, and I still think he is the best written overall. Of course, My Malfoy nature and appearance overrode that quickly, but I do like the character.

Here's a friend dressed as Boggart!Snape ;-)

Hooray! And where do you live, anyhoo? I knew Heath and Ivan were in the neighborhood (obviously), but somehow I figured you lived downtown or in Washington Heights.

Not that I really had any clue or anything. Washington Heights is just a pretty good default assumption.

Yeee! I'm both glad and relieved on your behalf that you've gotten a new place all signed for. :) And it's not even a trek-across-town move. Neato.

I don't know if this is coming too late, but...

I talked to Judy lastnight - she says call 311 (the number for apartment tenants who need help in NYC) if you haven't already called it and see if you can find some sort of tenant advocate there. Otherwise she said to look up in the phone book to see if you could find a tenant advocate lawyer who might have some dirt on your old landlord or might want to do pro bono work. She also said your neighborhood might have some sort of association that could help you out and she said make sure that you go to court with photos of mushrooms, etc., and representation (lawyer) if you can get it. Hope that helps!
