Let me show you them.

So over on Scans Daily, someone posts us some Wolverine First Class. Go have a look, it's a nice little story.

Read it? Great. So at first I go "Hey, slick art there kids!" Then I reach the fourth page and just start getting mad. )

So the point is...shenanigans. IF YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE A COMIC MAYBE YOU SHOULD DRAW IT MORE. The end.

HEY GUYS!

I'm going to a Con in October, and that means travel expenses! COME HELP ME MAKE ART FOR YOU TO BUY SO THAT I CAN GO SOMEWHERE TO SELL ART TO OTHER PEOPLE. And also to see [livejournal.com profile] ninjahijinx.

Now, it is just not feasible for me to do icons for cheap, since that ends up being a lot of sketches for not a lot of money, and too much work = Abby doesn't do it, as we have seen in the past. I'm totally down with you using my work to make icons from anyway.

MY OFFER
If you have a person or character, be it a friend, relative, or character from a rpg or fandom that you would like a picture of, I can help! I am good at this stuff. And so, I am going to divide the day up into slots, and put a price on those slots for how fancy a picture and how much time I'm going to spend on it. If you want to fill one, let me know.

Option 1) $50 - a finished, full-body color portrait. These take the most time. Example
Option 2) $50 a finished portrait of two characters in color. I have to do support sketches for both characters, and posing and such, so this does take time. Example one and two
Option 3) $50 - a finished ink portrait with a background. I lied, THESE take the most time. Example
Option 4) $45 - Two characters in one picture, monochrome-ish. I have to do support sketches for both characters, and posing and such, so this does take time. Example
Option 6) $35 - a simpler color portrait. Example,
Option 7) $25 - a black and white portrait with no background. Example
Option 8) $15 - five or so pencil sketches. It usually takes me a few to settle on a look/personality for a character anyway, but I'm not going to spend more than half an hour or so on this one. Example.
Option 9) $100 - sweet fancy poptarts that is a HECK OF A PICTURE. Full color, fancy background, no-holds-barred, art. Like this. Or this.

PLEASE NOTE THAT I WILL TAKE A LIMITED NUMBER OF THESE. ESPECIALLY NUMBER 9 THERE. IF ANYONE THROWS A HUNDRED BUCKS AT ME THEY GET TOP PRIORITY.

PROCEDURE
1) RESPOND HERE with the option you want, the subject matter, and your email address. REPLIES ARE SCREENED and will not show up.
2) I will respond to you with a yea or a nay. Nays are never meant as personal insults, I am simply being honest about what I want and am capable of doing. The more honest I am, the more likely the people who pay me money will get their stuff.
3) If you get a yay, click ye here =

and send me moneys!
4) I may ask questions, such as how big you'd like the image, if you want me to email it directly to you or host it on my site, or for more reference, or possibly for a pony.
5) You get art!

MY PROMISE
1) Your commission, or a sizeable portion of it will be finished TODAY. I hope.
2) For $5 I will MAIL TO YOU all sketch work I have done, and in the case of ink work, the original.

(Cross-posted. Y'all know you like sparkly gifs.)

Some shenanigans happened, but instead of writing about them, I did this:

BATMEME

Back to the temp agency tomorrow we go!

[Error: unknown template video]

The "making of" video is funny, too.

Yesterday's interview did not go poorly, but was also not worth singing accolades about. Then, last night, I looked at my bank account, got depressed, and listed a whole bunch of old books (mostly graphic novels at this point) for sale on Amazon.com. Puffy Kitty Books is open for business! (This is why I should not name things when my cat is curled up on my foot.) I'll sift through my paperbacks and old school books presently, though I'm pretty sure there isn't going to be much in the way of profit from 10 year old copies of Dragons of Autumn Twilight and the Dover Thrift edition of Candide. (I kid, I'm keeping both. As I Lay Dying, though, give me a penny and I'll stick a stamp on it.)

But today is free entry day at the MoMA and there's a Dali exhibit up, so Blair and I are going to go steep our destitute derrières in culture and absurdism.
psychick: (Get to Work)
It's 9 am and I am only just now going to bed. This is because I had to wait until 8:30 to call folks about medical bills and I am frankly shocked that I got any sleep at all this weekend with those hanging over my head. (I employed a Useful Device to trick and soothe my brain: I literally put "Worry About Bills" on my Googlecalendar so that I could tell my brain that it did not have to worry because the internet would worry for me.)

In any case, I can now categorically say that health insurance is the best thing ever, because that's another $1335.00 that BlueCross BlueShield made go away, thank God and all His little angels.

You know you're a grownup when "Okay, you can disregard that bill" is the sweetest poetry to your ears.

Let's see. In other news, I have done two new arts, one and two, inspired by the EXTREMELY AWESOME NOBILIS LARP from Origins. (Some Many of you have seen these already. Look again, the first one's been updated!) And they are quite good arts, sir! Quite good and I do say so myself and just because I always say that doesn't mean it's not particularly true this time. There will be more, oh yes, because I am not only going to Con on the Cob in October (somehow) but [livejournal.com profile] ninjahijinx and I are sharing a table in the Artitorium. Aaaa. Three months to make a portfolio that random people will care about, GO!

Speaking of money, I am still waiting to hear back from Columbia re: an office job I applied for. Bah office job, but YAY free schooling, so here's hoping my oh-so-polite thank you note will pound the nail into the proverbial coffin. The coffin of gainful employment. Yes. I also applied for a gig at United Media as a comic strip editor. An editor for the Sunday funnies! I believe the term for such a position would be "super awesome". I'll keep you posted.

And now to sleep, perchance to dream of Changeling characters. :3
psychick: (Maneuver)
Oh hey, I should write stuff. Well I did some quotes what you wrote in, and I also did some quotes from local tabletop games (and random quotes from my crazy friends) because it pleased me to do so. Anthony...you're in here. Kindof a lot. Because I love you? Yes.

Hey guys! I'm...going to go to sleep now (ahahaha hello sunshine!) but the impulse struck me earlier today and has stuck with me:

REPLY HERE with one or more funny chat or RP quotes. I will pick amongst them and make TEXT ICONS of them. Because I love me some funny quotes and I also love me some fiddling with little pictures. I will do this until I am tired of doing this, and I will do the ones that I want to do. THE ICON GODS ARE FICKLE AND CAPRICIOUS. I will, however, probably look at your journal or whatevs to get a sense of what colors you're feeling atm in order to make the icons. FICKLE AND YET KIND.

Man, I should sleep. Oh, right, I'm totally doing this AFTER I sleep. I just wanted to have fun fiddlybits to wake up to.

Uh, don't ask for really long stuff. I will consider doing longer exchanges as animated thingums, but that takes time so unless this is somehow vital to your existence (or just THAT funny) (or possibly you pay me or something), I ain't doing it.

That...is all.
psychick: (Bubble Bubble)
SO. Update on comissiony things! So far I have finished five commissions: some character sketches, two colored, digital two-character portraits, a big awesome ink thinger, and a set of three small ink scenelets that aren't scanned.

I still have to do: Another big awesome ink thinger (sketch finished) and one more two-character digital portrait. Somehow, in my mind, I firmly believe that digital work doesn't take me as long as pen & ink, but this has proven to be false. There's a lot more fiddling that goes on with digital stuff, while with pen & ink once you've made the mark, that's that and you move on. With digital stuff I run the risk of getting lazy and complacent, and with pen & ink I run the risk of making a fatal error and ruining the whole thing, so in the end I guess it balances out.

I'd have done more today, but then my womb tried to kill me and I had to sleep for a while. Had a bit of RP instead, posted in a moment, and then I'm going to sleep.

HEY GUYS!

So between post office shenanigans with my rent check, my mom's birthday, and Eddie Izzard, dang could I use some extra income so that I can eat food this week. Fortunately, I have today off, and can thus EARN moneys with my SKILLS.

Now, it is not feasible to do icons for cheap, since that ends up being a lot of sketches for not a lot of money and too much work = Abby doesn't do it, as we have seen in the past. So we're doing full-up portraits and sketches.

PLEASE NOTE THAT I WILL TAKE A LIMITED NUMBER OF THESE.

Option 4) $45 - Two characters in one picture, monochrome-ish. I have to do support sketches for both characters, and posing and such, so this does take time. Example
Option 5) $35 - a nice digital picture, no background, greyscale. Example
Option 6) $25 - a simpler color portrait. Example,
Option 7) $25 - an ink portrait with no background. Example
Option 8) $15 - five or so pencil sketches. It usually takes me a few to settle on a look/personality for a character anyway, but I'm not going to spend more than half an hour or so on this one. Example.

So I got one of these tegaki-draw-blog things, which will NO DOUBT be full of crappy mouse-pictures before long, if I remember to use it at all. I KNOW YOU OTHER PEOPLE HAVE THEM TO SO TELL ME WHO YOU ARE.

TRY NOT TO DRAW TOO MANY BUTTS IN MY REPLIES BECAUSE I AM AT WORK. AT LEAST MAKE THEM TASTEFUL OR SOMETHING. I WILL HAVE ONLY THE FINEST ARTSY ASSES IN MY MOUSE-ART BLOG.

Also I swear I'm going to log into IRC today. >__> AND make a new pup. B| For LJ-stuff. :D

I took the GREs and all I made was this awesome artwork? )

Oh! And I think I did alright on the GRE. 650 verbal, which is EXACTLY what I got on the SATs, and 520 quantitative, which is...not as good as might have been, but I thought I'd done far worse. The writing portions of the test I won't know my scores on until later.

Jesus.

I just tried to doodle for the first time in... oh God I don't even know.

I suck!

D:

ETA: Food helps! And a frappuchino. Yes, I am on a tight budget but I discovered $5 in my desk. Hooray best part of being forgetful!

I think part of it is also that I have continued to be a voracious consumer of comics and art without drawing much myself, and it is very true that you tend to draw what you see most, so my drawings are coming out looking more like imitations of other people's work rather than being done in my own style. Which is a bit exciting, as it means that I get to find my style again, and that's fun. The second I think that I'm good enough that I don't have to change, someone is required to come and shoot me.
psychick: (Prezzie!)
What did I do today?

I did a lot of art! )
psychick: (Default)
I need to make a Z? tag, clearly. There, done. This whole "tagging" business is strange and confusing to me.

ANYWAY so yes I have moved on from simple insomnia to weird bouts of waking up at 4:30 am all riled up for whatever reason. At least this resulted in two useful hours of inking, which is good. I was going to not ink this comic, maybe, just do it in touched up pencils as in Lackadaisy (only not cats of course), but...yeah. The inking stage is clearly important because it allows me to fix the gross errors. Grooooss errors. That and my scanner isn't that great anyway so the sketches come out either too light or dingy or both. As you may have noticed.

There is a big fancy thing also, but I'm still fiddling with it. I believe my lack of sleep is due in equal parts to 1) zonking out at 11 after merriment at the pub, and 2) being worked up about going to oHIo this weekend for a potentially lifestyle-changing meeting. And I mean financial lifestyle, you sickos. GET OFF MY SERIES OF TUBES!

Look, if you want coherent thought processes you should know better than to come here.

Iiiin other news... I had a great New Year! Mostly due to having better friends than one could reasonably hope for. Nobilis is the best rpg ever. That is all.
psychick: (Default)
Back in de office. Tiredy.

I've said before that I'd rather be with my friends than sleep...but I fail to take into account that my friends don't have to get up and do things in the morning, and thus they get a lot more sleep than me.

I need to do more HP art. Because the masses like it and I crave the praise. CRAVE IIIIT!!!!
Also, I draw Snape with little to no provocation.

SO! Towards that end, I invite people to make requests. Thursday. Dana. BUT PLEASE, if your request might possibly contain a spoiler, PLEASE EMAIL ME DIRECTLY.
psychick: (I Spy)
Art!!!

Yaaay free day.

WARNING: ALL IMAGES CONTAIN SPOILERS (except the first one)

Some Snape heads. (NO spoilers)

Of Course I Will. (SPOILER - HBP Chapter 2)

Snape's Rage! (SPOILER - HBP Ending)

The last one is the good one.
