Just a day in the life

Well, let me get this in quick before bossman gets in - I've been lucky the past few days and was able to get on AIMExpress, but prospects for such are poor today. Pooh. But I like this icon. HOW DID I SURVIVE WITHOUT 100 ICONS? I don't need that many...but now I have room for blinking Wart! :D
Heh. Boy is good for the soul, but not so good for the sleeping. But I don't do that anyway and this is why god gave us coffee and delicious breakfast foods. Baaagel om nom nom. I would've got to bed at a decent time, but I realized I'd left my phone at the pub and had to go back for it. It's a two minute walk and they know me well, so no biggie. I am an absentminded sort of Abby. (I'd also had quite a bit of wine but this is clearly unrelated!)
So my parents are in the Bahamas this weekend. Which is a bit surreal, I feel, but pretty cool for them. I liked Jamaica a lot when we went, and I know they did too, so a nice break after a grey winter sounds like just the thing. The mental image of my mom reading by the beach in flowery clothes with a big straw hat, sunglasses and a drink with an umbrella in it makes me smile. :)
I am going to re-instate something that I used to do but haven't in over a year: The Most Interesting Person of the Day. There's a lot of neat people I see walking around, and it's a good exercise in paying attention and existing more actively. Since I'm updating in the morning these days, apparently, the MIPotD will probably be from yesterday. Today's is.
MIPotD: There's a woman that I see fairly often on the train on the way home. Considering the frequency of trains and the arbitrary nature of when I go home, this is pretty impressive, and I always like seeing her. She's a bit shorter than I am, slim, and has that wonderful New York quasi-hipster punk thing going on. Leather jacket with interesting silver details, big ol' industrial green sweater, and boots which manage to be reminiscent of cowboy boots (which are honestly pretty cool) without actually being cowboy boots (which have no place in the city, trends be damned). What's more, she's got that cool attitude where you know that you could just chill and talk to her. Go train-chick, you're awesome.

Date: 2006-03-09 03:05 pm (UTC)Cool train-chicks are a necessary part of train life. There was also a girl on the 42nd St platform who was wearing the only pair of hot pink boots I've ever seen that were actually not at ALL horrendous. They can make anything these days, I tell ya.
