The state of the pretendy funtime union!

So I feel super-cool this morning because I kicked some major RP butt yesterday!
First, we wrapped up the
prime_education Spring Social plot, which was extremely fun! So this is set in Snape's school in the Nexus, which means limitless multifandom participation, basically. Via some enchanted masks, we mods pulled off the least invasive and most wangst-free large-scale LOL I think I've ever seen, and I learned a lot about scheduling and using a character as an NPC rather than playing him/her as a PC. Today, we get to assign prizes! PrIME's been a huge confidence-builder for me as a mod and ST over the months, thanks to a great player base and especially to my ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC co-mods! I brain best with others, it is a fact.
Second, I launched the heck out of
a_narrow_place, the much more serious and less free-form steampunk game that I run with
takhys. Three posts and multiple tags in a ten-minute period, booyow! (I would like to thank the Academy, which we here understand to mean Windows Notebook and tabbed browsing.) This game has been a lot of fun so far, and I'm very much enjoying applying what I've learned about myself as a cooperative storyteller at PrIME. I do think of myself not as a mod at the Narrows, but as an ST in the formal roleplaying sense, and thus far the comm dynamic has backed that up - I got to assign the players homework! Which they...did! And enjoyed! And now I am using that homework to TORMENT THEIR CHARACTERS muahahaha! (I am mad with the power.)
We also worked out our first ruffled player instance, which ended in mutual understanding and actually helped Takh and meself figure out a few things in the direction of how all this works and what we're doing with it. One concern I have for the future is that this level of attention works well while the comm is pretty small, and that as it continues to grow, keeping plots tailored, attention-heavy, and inclusive to all the PCs will be harder. Then again, this is a surprisingly insular group I rp with so I don't think it'd get all that big. In any case, it's something Takh and I will have to think about as we are presented with bridges to cross in the future.
For now, APPARENTLY I CAN ST. Rock.
And tonight, not-DnD roleplaying in the real world, even!
